Alvarado Junior High honored seventh grader Rosa Gomez and health teacher and coach Bobby Arias as the student and teacher of the month for February.
“Rosa was nominated by her teachers because she is a model student,” principal Melodye Brooks said. “She is quiet in class, but is always ready to help her fellow students in class when needed. She always thinks of others first.”
Arias juggles his teaching duties with coaching football, basketball and track at Alvarado Junior High.
“He is always the first to help out when we need anything done for the students or staff at the junior high,” Brooks said.
Nominations for student and teacher of the month are taken by the Random Acts of Kindness Club at the junior high. Each winner receives a $25 gift certificate to Fresco’s, compliments of Best Homes.
